Diana the Mountain Huntress

Mountain people are different people. Not for them even now Mthe comfort of the shop just down the road. They pride themselves on their capacity to live through lean times and feed anyone who turns up. I met Diana on the day there had been an earthquake tremor in the mountains, which she had felt (and so had we in Barga), but of course the mountain folk carry on with their lives in their usual phlegmatic way. In fact we played most of cards, a fiendish game called Burraco, which someone dubbed like “gin rummy on speed”....
